So... I recently did a TFCD (trade for CD) gig as the 'model.' (I never had senior portraits taken back in high school and figured what the heck..) It ended up being quite fun - chatted with the guy who took the photos about photography, experimented with his new Speedlite, etc.
ANYWAY he offered to give me all the photos from the shoot on a USB that I gave him.
I just got it back today and realized I have absolutely no idea how to open RAW files.. LOL. I think I need a program to open them? I have PS CS6..
Once this is installed, you will be able to drag the RAW files into Photoshop, which will open the Adobe Camera Raw plugin and allow you to 'develop' them with the same function as in Lightroom.
oh this is a tough one... RAW files can be opened as @abirkill and @steampowered suggested.
Its strange that a photographer would give you RAW instead of JPG though. As an aside, it may be worth mentioning that if you do want to edit images for your own use, you'll definitely want to touch base with the photographer to make sure he's ok with your edits as technically IP belongs to him
