HI, I am wanting some help on settings on my Canon 60d.

I am going to a Bull Ride in a couple of weeks and have no idea what settings I need to use. It will be late afternoon to evening. I don't cope well with movement or as the sun goes down. I could do with some help here. Any thing that is helpful would be good. have a great day Tessa

First off, what camera/lens will you be using? General rule of thumb will be High Shutter Speed, Low-ish Aperture, Auto ISO.

I never use auto but if I were ride a bull I'd definitely consider it !

@dgcarter @summnick

If it was me I would put it on shutter priority and set it at around 1/1000 of a second and then mess with the ISO to as to get the aperture as wide as possible. i.e. Set the ISO at 100

Or if the sun was constant then set it in manual and have the shutter speed at 1/1000 and the aperture at its widest setting. ie f2.8

If you are going on a bull ride, have you got your 60d insured? I am with Nick, I think Auto (I usually shoot manual) but with one hand holding onto the bull, I would think your free hand will just about cope with pressing the shutter release LOL! have fun!!

if it were me (and your camera has the functionality, I'm on Nikon) I would set the ISO to auto on shutter priority and get the shutter speed as fast as possible until the camera goes over an ISO of 2000, then as the light fades and the shutter gets down to 1/200 or so and if close enough id go to flash.

I'm no expert though!

@dgcarter Hi the lens I have is 18 to 135. I know you said High Shutter Speed, Low-ish Aperture, Auto ISO. can you tell me how high and how lowish. I have been to this event before and got it all wrong so hoping for some better shots this time. Thanks so much for replying to my post.
