Hello, 365 family. Is anyone familiar with selling their own prints either online or at local art shows? Do you prefer one method over the other? Is there any money in this? What websites are best for this? How do you feel about selling on Etsy? Other advice?
I have an account through Fine Art America, which is free and let's you set your markup. I've only sold a few things though. http://katie-mcenaney.artistwebsites.com/
Local art shows would involve a large investment, as you would have to print and frame a significant amount of material that you might not sell ...
I've also purchased some prints taken by 365 members from other sites. As to money, I made just over $800 from the site last year; not a whole lot, but not too bad considering I really don't advertise much.
I just had my first >$1000 month on Fine Art America, which is a nice milestone. Bear in mind there's over 6.5 million pieces of art for sale on the site, so don't expect to sell a lot without doing marketing. http://alexis-birkill.artistwebsites.com/
Thank you all so much for your input! I didn't have a chance to get back to everyone yesterday, but I will check out the sites you recommended. What gorgeous work you all do!
@tw Your photos are amazing! I love the whimsy and creativity. I also have a website, but it isn't really set up to sell any prints yet. I just have it so that my portrait clients can view my portfolio. Who is your website hosted by? Do you sell directly through them or is there a third party? That you sell through?
