I just purchased a Panasonic DMC-FZ70 and think I love it! However...all the photos I took in RAW would not open in PS and there is no image I can see in my files. (My Nikon places a jpeg and RAW side by side with the same number, but not so with the Panasonic...just a blue box...) This camera does come with software to read the files (and I have not opened that yet) but I'd like to continue with Photoshop.
Has anyone else encountered this, and how might you have overcome it? Ken called tech support this morning and they were not able to give an answer other than to tell us to contact Adobe, which seems to be passing off the problem...
I thought some amongst you might have the answer or a good suggestion. Thanks so much!
Apparently your camera is supported in Adobe Camera Raw version 8.2 release which works with Photoshop CS6 and Creative Cloud. Try going into Photoshop and doing an Update from there (go to the Help pulldown menu and select Updates). If you aren't able to download this then try Adobe's DNG converter. This can be found part way down teh page here http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2013/09/camera-raw-8-2-and-dng-converter-8-2-now-available.html
@creampuff Thank you so much for the quick reply! I'm off to give it a go! You certainly earned your "365 stripes" this morning for stepping in to help!
@pistonbroke Thanks, Pete... Ken...my techno helper...is out for a bit, but we may be closing in on it... I was able to download Panasonic's SilkyPix and mass-convert the raw images to tiff...then had them for PS... Not too time consuming, but will check for more possibilities such as this...thanks so much!
Photoshop CS6? Just download and install Camera Raw 8.2 and you should be fine and not have to go through the DNG conversion. Before that, then I am afraid the two step conversion will be necessary. From Photoshop, you need only go to Help | Updates... from the Photoshop menu bar.
