Selling Photo's Online

June 14th, 2014
OK, I am looking for ideas - I currently am registered with, and upload to istock, though haven't sold anything yet.

However, I also want an online shop - I tried smugmug, and while their products were cheaper for people to buy, the monthly subscription was expensive.

I have now tried 500px, and found the opposite. The monthly subscription is cheap, but it is very expensive for people to buy from them, and the things they can buy are limited. I have very little control over the store.

They also offer 500px prime, but I find that too to be expensive - $250 dollars for someone to buy a full res copy royalty free.

I wonder if anyone has any other suggestions for selling photo's and items online, with a reasonable monthly subscription myself, but a decent purchase price for friends and family, and hopefully a decent range of items to buy - i.e. mugs, keyrings etc too. I just find 500px too limiting.

Take a look at Redbubble or Zazzle.

FineArtAmerica is used by a few members on here, but I suspect their products might be too expensive as you don't like 500px's prices. CafePress is another possibility but I've heard very bad things about them from the sellers side (such as finding excuses not to pay).

I sell mine through my own website and an online store that is linked off it.
