Best photography sites in Itay

I'm trying to choose a location to visit in Italy this coming summer. My husband surprised me with a trip to London and Venice for our anniversary nearly 6 years ago now. Unfortunately, I didn't have my current love for photography at that time, although I still managed to takes hundreds of photos while we were there. This time I'd like to go with my camera, and when it's not freezing cold...probably in late April or early May. Since so many of my fellow 365'ers are from that area, I'd appreciate any suggestions finding a city that is beautiful and still a bit untouched, yet not too tourist heavy? Thanks!

You could do a lot worse than go to Florence and work out from there.

This gives you access to lots of beautiful places within easy driving distance, places like San Gimignano, Lucca, Pistoia and Siena to name but a few. Even Pisa isn't too far away. And of course you have all of the sites that Florence has to offer.

I have been to Pisa twice (although once is probably enough), Florence twice (nowhere near enough), Siena and San Gimignano. I'd love to go back and explore more because there is so much to see. I'd recommend it 100%.
