I have been asked by someone in my Village Shop who knows that I am a keen photographer whether I have any nice photos of the village as she would like to make a calendar which I presume she intends to sell. If I give her some of my images, I think I should be paid for them if she is going to make a profit for herself. What do you think I should charge?
I think I would be reluctant to give away the photos if the shop is going to keep the profit from the sale.
I have had requests from several people to produce a village calendar myself. Instead, I have organised a village calendar of photos from lots of people which we have just about finished putting together for 2015. This will be sold to raise funds for village causes.
People have submitted shots to represent different months in and around the village. A small committee of us have come up with a short list and we will meet in the next week or so to finalise it. Order forms will be going out this weekend.
Nobody will have more than one big photo in the calendar.
One thing I would say is that you would have to work pretty quickly to get a calendar compiled, printed and sold in time for Christmas. Presumably the shop would want to start selling them by mid October at the latest.
@agima That's a good idea but I think I shall have to do something next year as quite honestly, I think it's a bit late in the day to be thinking of producing a calendar as I'm really pushed for time at the moment.
