Question about property releases

February 16th, 2010
I had a request to shoot old Coca-Cola bottles for a fine-art print to sell. Is this sort of thing breaking any copyright laws or needing a property release of some sort? I realize a Coca-Cola bottle isn't a building, etc, but it's a recognizable brand.

For that matter, what about cars, etc, or anything with a copyrighted brand? Is it allowable to sell photos of such things? What if someone asks you to do a photo shoot of their car? Would that be different than just shooting a random car and selling the print to someone else?

Don't know if this helps....but my partner has had his cars photographed for magazines etc (which will be sold on, obviously) and as far as I know there is no issue with copyright for this subject....
I am in the UK....I don't know what the laws are like anywhere else, sorry....
