I have a Canon rebel xti and I've already accumulated a decent zoom lens, a wide angle and fisheye, with respective macro lens with each of the last two. So I was wondering, where should I go from here? I'm not really lens savvy, but considering I've been accepted to college for photography, I should probably get on that. So... help?!?
As for what I generally plan to shoot -a lot a portraits.
Also, I'm looking for lower/mid range, price wise.
do you know what you need for college... I might save a bit... likely you will be doing at least a little fim and B&W... maybe get a nice 100-135ish range prime... you will likely be opening it up to f/8 for portraits so speed is not that important...
you can find one with a film body on the cheap... leave something wider on Digital and you could have a ok kit on the cheap...
@sickboi Thank you. Hmmm, I have no prime lenses...I think. I have a canon EFS 18-55mm and a Canon EFS 55-250mm and a Sigma 105mm 1:2.8 DG Macro. Is the macro a prime? (I feel dumb, lol).
@vikdaddy Thank you, I think that is why I have such a hard time using it, I've been completely oblivious to the fact its fixed at 105mm. I have so much to learn. Thanks again.
@vikdaddy No, I don't! D: Like I said, I'm not lens savvy whatsoever, which is terrible, so I'll definitely have to study up before next August, haha.
@icywarm Yes, I'll definitely have at least two semesters of film, but that equipment is provided, even though I have my old film AE-1 and an insane zoom lens for it.
I'm more asking for future personal purposes because my college provides most to all of the equipment necessary.
