Lightroom Export Print Size Help

June 8th, 2015
I'm new to Lightroom and trying to figure out what settings I should be using when exporting photos.

Can someone please tell me (very simply) what settings I need to use for

- File Settings.
- Image Sizing

for export to:

- Internet
- 20 x 28cm Print

Thankyou

@deborah63 Hi Debbie,

You said "simply" so I'm just going to list the settings I find myself using the most without much explanation as to 'why', but would be happy to add that later if you'd like. It wouldn't particularly surprise me if there are others who don't agree with my settings. I use these in Lightroom 5; I made "presets" for my frequent export scenarios, (i.e. 365, Facebook, website, client proof prints, etc):

Internet:
- File Settings:
- Image Format: JPEG
- Color Space: sRGB
- Quality: 77
- Image Sizing:
- Resize to Fit: Long Edge, Don't Enlarge checked
- 2048 pixels
- Resolution: 300 pixels per inch
Sharpening:
- Screen, Standard

For your size print mentioned, I would recommend the same as above except Quality: 100, Long Edge 3000px, Sharpening for Print, Standard.

Again I haven't qualified any of these settings with justification, I can't absolutely guarantee they are the "best" for your particular need. Often for Internet you can (and should) go smaller than 2048 for the long edge, and for print the "best" settings do vary based on size of print, and type of printer. What I've offered I'll classify as "simplified average" settings.

Hope that helps and if you do want more detail let me know!
