Help — Accidentally overwrote a photo

January 31st, 2016
I accidentally uploaded a photo to a date that already contained a photo. I edited the newly uploaded photo to give it the date I intended, but the photo it replaced initially is now showing up as a blank day.

Is there any way to get back the original photo that was there before so that I don't lose all its comments and everything?

Can't remember what photo it was, either. :-(

I would like to tell you yes but I think it may be gone.

i didnt know it could do that, usually if i try to upload to a date already taken it tells me and wont overwrite anything. are you sure you didnt actually miss that date out. ?

@kali66 @grammyn - Thank you, katy and kali for your replies.

Kali, I thought the same thing. I'm pretty sure I've made this mistake before and had it tell me that the date was already used. I suppose it is possible that the date was already blank, but that would be quite a coincidence for me to upload a photo that just happened to coincide with the only blank date in the early part of the month! But it's possible!

Check the year! Sometimes it changes that and you think you have lost it because it is in a different year!

@grammyn - Thanks again, Katy. I'm just going to assume it was blank to begin with. I've looked through the photos on my computer from that time frame to try to figure out which one it might have been, but nothing jumps out at me. I'll just replace it with something else! Thanks so much for your help.

Search for the tags that you may have put on the photo or in another one of your albums (perhaps, as you are an ace member)

Just a thought, did you inadvertently put 2015 rather than 2016?

When I "lost" photos, I later found them parked on the date they were originally captured. It meant looking back using the "previous" button month by month.

I thought I had lost one of my photos but it turned out it had gone into the previous year.

You cannot upload to an occupied spot in your album during upload, only after editing in picmonkey. It must have been blanc already. The missing photo could be in a past month or year...

@byrdlip @pixiemac @ethelperry @cruiser @mastermek - Thanks, everyone, for all the helpful replies. I've gone ahead and uploaded a new photo to the blank spot. I don't remember what may have been there before, but I've decided not to worry about it.
