Photo Contests

January 2nd, 2011
Hey everyone, I was thinking today and I decided I'd like to enter a photography contest. I looked around on Google for a contest to enter, but I didn't have any luck.
Does anyone know of a contest (or somewhere to find them) for teens in Illinois/the US?
Thanks!

These are a couple of sites I found... dont know how good they are, but I would make sure they are legit. If you have to spend money to enter make sure its a real comp and not a rip off, plenty of people out there ready to steal money from people

Also ring your local paper and ask them if they know of any comps. your local library can help too.
What about your school?
and local art center or gallery owners if you near an area with galleries etc..
Hope these have helped.. good luck..

Good info @nikki

Also, read the fine print. Often you give up your rights to your own photos when entering photo contests. You might be ok with that, but you should know one way or the other regardless.

@nikkers Wow, thanks for all that! I need to do a lot more research with this... I can already tell there's lots of scams.
@bobtimmons Thanks for the tip!

You are welcome Kelsey.

Where I grew up there was a yearly country fair/show and we would enter our art into the show.. you may want to try something like that.. or even ask one of your teachers to organize a comp... see what they can come up with. or start your own among your friends..

and I should have added what Robert said about the ownership etc. good luck ..
