i have a 6 but only have 16gb storage on it... i was planning to upgrade to the 6SE with max storage once the 7 was announced... but now - i'm thinking... maybe i should save my pennies for a 7?
I really haven't read anything on the 7. My hubby did. He just explained the specs to me. I was all smiles with the camera, and the fact that it's splash proof!!!! I'm going to upgrade too!!!!!
@kjarn Ha! My other half often spends so long researching things that the next version is out before he's finished. And then he has to start all over again. ;)
@northy The camera on the SE is really nice. I may have to finally concede my phone now counts as a proper camera. :)
Apple fan-boy here too. But The 7? With those fancy earplugs that don't not fit any ear? Oh well that's no issue probably since you will will have lost them in the first week anyway...
Keep your 6 and upgrade to the 8 next year. There is not enough here for me to move even from my iPhone5. That "dual camera" second "telephoto" lens is quite misleading. After the x2 from the "basic" lens kit, 28mm FF equivalent, , it's "digital" up to x10, in other words, "crops the sensor raw data." And with only 12 mp to play with to start with...
Now those Android devices with micro SD memory, significantly higher pixel count and replaceable batteries - Samsung perhaps if they won't explode on charging :), and especially the new Sony x and z5 - maybe worth a alonger look.
If you need 4K video, well perhaps the iP7, but if you need that, I think you need more than the 1/2.3 inch 12mp sensor. A 16x9 crop of the 12 mp sounds about the right for a 1-1 sample. Certainly no room to over-sample to improve quality.
Maybe next year if Apple can get its mojo back. Tim Cook is no Steve Jobs, unfortunately. Let's hope for something a little more revolutionary next year.
@mastermek yeah - the ear bud thing is a pain, but i can prolly live with the "dongle" (;p) solution for the minimal amount of time i use them... the wireless would never work for me as earbuds constantly fall out of my ears ;p
@frankhymus i hear what you're saying about the 7... i still need to upgrade tho as the 16gb just doesn't cut it for getting the best out of the camera on the 6... so it's just a question of 6E or 7...
@humphreyhippo - yes - you've mentioned previously that the 6E camera seems worthy of the moniker... that is helpful and encouraging :)
@Scrivna tx for weighing in!!! and yes - i doubt very much i would go for the 7+ due to the size, so that is definitely a factor to consider...
@northy Go for one of the Android devices such that you can add memory via a micro SD card. Having fixed memory that can't be user expandable in today's world is Apple once again ripping off its loyal fans.
This of course is only the evaluation of the camera of the phone, but it's from DXO, a well respected source, sometimes unfairly vilified by the philistines. :)
It's only the 7 plus that has the dual camera so you'd have to get that for the fancy wide angle & telephoto combo.
