Best Lens?

January 6th, 2011
I use a Canon Xsi and have the standard 18-55mm lens. I'm hoping to upgrade soon and would love to know what everyone uses/loves or wants for themselves.
I also use the Sigma 70-300mm occasionally and while I've gotten some great photos from it I find that it's really cumbersome so, I'll be on the hunt for a lighter weight telephoto soon too.
TIA!

I have 18-55, 55-200, and 70-300 for my Nikon, and the 55-200 is my very favorite. It's not as bulky or heavy as the 300, and I don't do much non-zoom photography, so I don't have to worry about being too close to things much.

I have a Canon 400D and i am soon buying a 7D. I had a 70-400 and traded it for a 70-300 and i love it. I have a Canon 50mm 1.8, potrait lense which is great for low light and the kit 18-55mm and i am saving for a macro lense. I am keeping the 400D body even tho i was advised to trade it but i think in the long run i wont have to swap lenses when out on a shoot. Let us know what you get, when you get it. Good luck

By far my favorite so far is the 50mm 1.4 for my 7D.

i have the canon 15-85mm and the 10-22mm, and they're awesome and very sharp. i have the 50mm f/1.8 too and that's good for portraits. they all work well on my 7d.

I depend on Ken Rockwell's advice on many things as I learn about equipment. I read about his "dream team" of lens: http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/dx-dream-team.htm, and just completed the "team" when my husband got me the 10-24 wide angle lens for Christmas. I typically mostly rely on the 18-200, but I love my 35 mm for low light situations. I'm just now learning about the wide angle, but so far, so good!

I have the 60mm Macro lens for my 20D. LOVE it. It's the master lens in my bag and gets used ALL the time.
