Australian Floods

January 9th, 2011
Currently most of Queenland and now apparently the northern parts of New South Wales and parts of Western Australia are flooded. The farmers here are doing it extremely tough, with only a year ago we were discussing droughts and because of the water australia is also plagued by locasts who are eating up the few crops that were left unharmed by the floods. I live in Victoria so im not personally affected by the floods but i still feel so bad for all the affected areas and with my best wishes i hope everything is back to normal as soon as possible and that all efforts are enforced by the nation and the government to help those affected. Just thought id let everyone know whats going on down here in Australia and ask that you keep those affected in your prayers and thoughts :)

Im from Central Queensland.. our town peaked on New Years eve. We were lucky, personally our damage was minor, but many have lost everything. Our town will struggle for months to come.. the clean up seems never ending and the huge burden on the community is causing people to "burn out" physicly and emotionaly. Anyone who was not directly affected has helped someone who was, therfore sharing the burden. It certainly makes you feel more appreciative of the simple things... because for some the simple things are all they have left.

@toninorris I hope you get through it okay as a whole community!

Whilst we shiver in the UK, our sailing boat home is currently on hard standing in Bundaberg. Safe, we are assured, thankfully. Terrible devastation - and not a day goes by without our thoughts going out to our friends out there.

I have been reading on line about the floods, and its horrible to see, Here in Washington were I live we go through floods every couple of years.. 3 years ago we were evacuated from a 3 rd floor flat because of flooding into town and the surrounding streets, we were told by the police that if we had small children to get out. My son was 2 at the time. it took 3 days before we could get back home. So I feel for these communities. Hoping that things settle down fast.
