New save options on Topaz Studio.

May 6th, 2018
Since I have updated Topaz Studio to the latest version, 1.10.5, there are different save options. I am rather confused as I know nothing about the alternatives. I always used their jpeg. Now there are a few options, amongst others, jpeg - srGb - from low to max; PNG - proPhoto - 1 to 10, slow to fast. Can someone please shed some light on this issue? At the moment I am using the jpeg on 8 (high) and do not know if it is correct. Many thanks.

Here is a link that might help you understand the difference between the files https://gizmodo.com/5656669/whats-the-difference-between-jpg-png-and-gif

Basically what I do is always save in jpeg at the highest option I have. Those are the photos I use for posting on here.
If I am making a composition from several photos then I save those as png files. This gives them a transparent background so they can be overlaid easier than a jpeg file.

Hope this helps a bit. I'm sure someone else will be able to explain it a lot better than I can.

@k1w1 Thanks so much for your input and link. When you say composition of several photo's, does that mean for stacking? I am rather new to this and don't know much about it. So far I have been saving them in large, not maximum. Will try that and see if there is a difference ;-)

A composition is several photos and you only want a part of each photo. An example would be the photos that I use for digital scrapbooking. I have a flower that I have taken from one image and I am putting it into another image. Stacking is when you want to have several photos that all have a different focus point. This is a technique that is often used for macro photos so you have the entire image is in focus.
You will probably not notice a difference in the file that you save as large or maximum until you enlarge it.
