i don't really know how to describe this in just a few words, or i'd google for help...
here's what's happening...
i insert the card from my camera into my computer as always... in LR, the images show up to be selected for import... i click on import and LR tells me it's importing, but no images show up... i wait and wait and wait... and nothing...
now, if i go to "all files" on my laptop outside of LR, i can see that the pictures are... somewhere... but they aren't in LR...
i've had this happen with two cards, used in different cameras... one is a bit old, the other is newer... and it's intermittent... it doesn't always happen for a particular card... sometimes it picks up the pictures just fine...
I only have it when I shoot Raw+Jpeg file, then it only imports the raw files, not the jpg's which I find strange because you have two different extensions, .NEF and .jpg.
@overalvandaan Normally, if you shoot raw + jpeg, unless you set it up otherwise in import settings, the jpegs will be imported as sidecar files which are not visible in LR. You can view them by opening the file they are stored in with Explorer where you will see both the NEF image and the jpeg.
@vignouse@overalvandaan there’s a setting in LR that will import the jpeg as a separate file along with the RAW version... I think it’s a tick box under preferences...
This is not the issue I am experiencing though... I’ve actually been having a number of issues with LR of late... I really need to try to sort them out...
@northy I wasn't trying to answer your issue Myra, I too don't understand it. I also have an issue with LR, when Itry to edit a photo in PS it opens but is uneditable as all the commands are grayed out: I have to close it and then reopen it in PS and then I can edit it.

thanks... i don't think it's anything related to settings because it comes and goes... sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't - for the same SD card... it's like LR has a hiccough of something...
weirdly i now have two versions of LR on my laptop, which probably isn't helping... i'm a bit terrified of uninstalling and reinstalling, but i imagine that's what i will have to do...
My laptop has crashed a couple of times (something with the sound card) and I'd have to reset my whole laptop and then install all apps, incl LR, again. It went without problems. Just be careful though in which catalogue you open. Good luck!
I'm not sure what's going on for you either, but I do know that if the "include subfolders" box is not checked when I am in "import" Lightroom shows no photos for me. As soon as I check the "include subfolders" box though they all pop up.
Perhaps if they are actually importing to your computer you can change your "source" from the EOS Digital to the Hard Drive and locate your photos there? I do sometimes edit photos from a source other than my card and I import them in using a hard drive location.
