Anyone at least half interested in the new Sigma DSLR camera this spring?
It is boasting a 3 layer sensor... the first layer captures Red, the next Green and finally Blue (it has been a long time since I took wave dynamics so that order could be wrong) so each channel is capture at 15 MP x 3 layers means 46 MP?
It is weather sealed, metal body ( mag alloy at least), crop sensor I believe, it takes CF cards ?!?!(SD was too expensive to use?)
Not my cup of tea... I own too much pentax junk... but for people look for a DSLR with cheap good glass could be a real winner...
PS this thread is to kill time... only 30 days or so until the Fuji X100 comes out... than I can throw my DSLR junk in the trash and use a 'range-finder' again... watch out you Lecia users, I'm a coming for you. (read... I am very jealous!)
@vikdaddy that Oly does look interesting, I wonder why they went so small on the sensor 4.6x crop is huge and ISO up to 3200. In the point and shoot world that is great... but not top self... the reviews look great... I just couldn't find a price... but I didn't look that hard...
@hmgphotos@vikdaddy but how do you fit two CF cards in one camera? Or would you just not have a 'back-up' card? Oh wait... it is likely the size of a Mark 1 and not a K5... so I guess there would be room.
@icywarm - it's a 24 x 16mm sensor (APS-C) From what I've read about the foveon sensor the image quality from a 45MP sensor would be equivalent to a 30MP standard (bayer) sensor. Which is still impressive.
I like sigma, but I wouldn't want to be limited to sigma only lenses.
The Fuji does look bad-ass though!
The Olympus XZ-1looks interesting too, although it's a lot more contemporary-looking...
I prefer CF cards as well. SD cards seem too "toyish" for grown up DSLRs, haha
I like sigma, but I wouldn't want to be limited to sigma only lenses.
