what makes your artistic heart beat faster....

I am very new to this photography lark and am a little alarmed as to how obsessed I have become about it. This weekend is my wedding anniversary, we are flying to Melbourne and have a gorgeous hotel booked etc and you know what I am worrying about... yes you guessed it, my project! Obviously the camera will be coming with me but I won't get to a computer for four days!! OMG how will I cope....?

It got me thinking... what makes your artistic heart beat a little faster, (and I don't mean the anxiety involved when not being able to do it!) what do you like to take pictures of the most? For me it is anything with a heartbeat, living breathing things, bodies, human or otherwise, body parts that kind of thing.
So, what "does it" for you??

Nod
Street photography especially involved some windows/mirros is my favorite. I like pics that can keep me engaged... small details in subtle places

for me its a combination of 3 things 1) emotions, I always look for an image that stirs an emotion passion, anger, hope, love, happiness, despair doesn't matter what it is if a subject makes me feel something inside then I will capture it 2) colour I love love love vibrant powerful colours 3) light whether it is the reflected light from a neon sign the twinkle of the sun off a wave, dappled shade through the leaves in a wood or a full double rainbow over the mountains light has a very odd almost euphoric effect on me :)

@asrai I agree completely with the emotions, colour and light.
Emotions - I think that is why I like "things with a heartbeat" as no matter what picture I take it evokes some sort of emotion. Colour and light in all pictures, sometimes you are lucky and it all just comes together, other times the smallest of tweeks with editing can make a good picture terrific.

@viranod - this is the best picture, capturing that unexpected reflection. It is a busy picture and I see why you like these types of shots too.

A combination of 3 things right now (this could change): 1. birds because they fascinate me and the ones I am taking pictures of now will be migrating soon and I will not see them until next winter, 2. flowers because I love flowers, and 3. emotions-even with birds or flowers--there might be a mood that I feel or an emotional connection-right now I am exploring the connections between the birds, whether that is a fight between birds or sitting together on a perch. When I look at others photos, my artistic heart beats faster when I see 1. flower pictures, 2. landscape pictures-especially serene country scenes, and 3. something that I make an emotional connection to. Therefore, my lists are similar, but different.
