Bottom line here... Was looking online at this and seems great, any opinions out there?

I have a canon digital rebel 300D (plan on upgraded the body to a canon 60D soon) but have learned that glass is usually more important than the body (not always),

No idea but I bought a second hand 100mmm Tokina f2.8 for my Nikon D40 and found manual focus a bit hard. So I upgraded to the Nikon D90 which will drive the lens and have just started using the lens for portraits and some other stuff.....over a year since I got it.

The Canon should probably be updated first, I noticed a distinct difference in IQ with Canons using the DigicIII onwards........and I prefer SD cards.

I own this lens and I love it, not that I have much experience with lens. The pictures I take with come out so much sharper than with my kit lens.
