Macro lens

Ok, my last post was about zoom lens and this one is about macro lens. I'm new to DSLRs so lens are a mystery to me and now I'm curious about macro lens. I dont know if its better to have one thats 100mm or lower or if an image stabilizer is the bigger issue of the lens. Does anyone have suggestions? or clarifications?

I'd go for a macro lens that I can also use for portrait. If you use a cropped sensor body (like 1.5x), then 100 will be too long and in which case a 60 or something similar will be more suitable.

Image stabilizer will also make macro photography more flexible especially when you go walk around the woods, etc.

Olympus have the IS in the body so all lenses are good for it :) But I had the option of a 35mm or a 50mm and I chose the 35... no real reason but cost did come into it. I occasionally use a 2x converter with it and I would like a 25mm extension tube.
