I am actually afraid to attach it for fear I might screw up my new camera lol.I originally ordered the oem parts but found this for 1/4 the price.
Please if I am being stupid by using this let me know and I will put it on EBAY tonight.

Thanks for your help in advance

I guess I would have to ask why you bought it to know if you should keep it or sell it.

@seattle to use it of course :) ... but now I have gotten wary after hearing horror stories about non oem parts ruining cameras :(

Mainly because I am used to having the extra weight with my previous canon rebell (it had the battery grip as well) it is mainly a comfort thing for me more so than the batteries.

The two reviews of the product are glowing so it "should be" good quality-wise. The majority of the sellers ratings are 4 stars or above so they seem to be reputable.

I don't think you are being stupid. We are conditioned to buy something just because of the name on it. Some times you get what you pay for and sometimes you pay way more for the name. There are a few things I have learned not to scrimp on but those are food type items. I have a SIGMA lens for my Nikkon camera. It works great for me, does what it should and I will consider another if/when I am in the market for another lense. Just because it doesn't say the brand name doesn't mean that it is sub-par.

I think that you should try it out and see if you like carrying/using your camera with it. Leave it on for a week or two. By that time you should know if it is worth the extra weight or not. I personally always have an extra battery charged up so I can switch when one gets low. BUT I am not taking lots of photos at once, using a flash or remote flash or other activities that require huge amounts of battery power. It it totally up to you and your shooting style. I hope this helps.

I have not heard of non-oem parts screwing up camera's but I am not always in the loop either.

After all of that, I guess I could sum it up to do research and Caveat Emptor

@jessicapena I am confused by your link, the Canon BG-E9 is the battery grip for the EOS 60. If this is the one you purchased, then I don't know why you would be afraid? Are you saying you did not buy this one and if so what did you get? Hard to give you advice without the details.

@seattle Ok guess I wasn't very clear. The link above is the one I purchased, however what arrived is this an off brand one, I can't even find a link to one on the internet it is called a MeiKe multi-power Battery Pack for Canon 60D. The batteries that arrived with it are 7.4v rather than 7.2v as well, and there is NO brand name on them at all. Call me paranoid, I just want to make my camera last :)

@all71s thank you :)

@jessicapena How do you like the 60D? I will be purchasing it next month and I'm quite excited, but would love to know what your thoughts on it (pros and any cons?) Thanks!

@supersevin I have fallen in love with it!!! Mind you, I upgraded from a canon rebel 300d :)
Pros: VERY clear picture, great ISO range, The functionality is a bit different for me but it is easy to get used to.

My only con would be that it is not full frame but hey there are ways around that!

The camera itself is awesome! a great purchase in my eyes. Do a everyone usually suggests and purchase the body only :)

I am still a complete amateur so that is the best I can give on it :)

@jessicapena If you ordered the battery pack from the Amazon. Com link and got something other than the Canon BG-E9, I would call Amazon and ask them what is going on. The link you provided states you would be ordering a Cannon BG-E9. Here is a link for a discussion on the quality of the MeiKe Battery Pack BG-E9 http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019&message=37496595

@jessicapena if I'm reading this correctly I would return it simply because it's not what you paid for

I just got a 60D last Friday. Used it Saturday to shoot an indoor soccer game & so far I am in love with the results. Upgraded from the 30D. I've always liked Canons a lot but right now I say it's more like love for this camera for me too :-)

That's a great deal - the genuine Canon version is probably about the $300 mark, possibly more. I would plug it in and have a go. I don't see how it would damage the camera.
Let us know how it works out for you.

@seattle @suzk On the phone with amazon.... taking the advice and returning it! That's irritating! They should just say what it is in the first place!!! Thanks for the advice :) It is VERY appreciated.

Was told to keep it for a month and try it out! If I don't like it or it does damage to my camera full refund plus replacement of my camera! Ok, I can't complain now, great deal! It was just upsetting that I thought I was purchasing the OEM part and received something else in its place :(

@jessicapena Thanks for the info! I have a Canon Rebel XT (lowest of the low) that I got almost 4 years ago. I canNOT wait to upgrade. Full frame doesn't bother me right now...maybe in another 4-5 years I'll upgrade to a pro camera. :)

@supersevin ya i was thinking the same thing... my goal is a Mark III :) But I really want to find a pro to shadow/assist for a year or 2 first, which I have had no success at as of yet!
