Just read the books that have been listed and you're all set. They are all SO IMFORMATIVE and taught me how to take picutures. I am completely self taught by all of those listed (with the exception of Barnbaum and Duchemin) but I am going to go get those.

@asrai @kjarn @dejongdd Excellent thank you all very much, I will now go and look these books up and hopefully get started reading soon. @mattyb Thanks Matty, I can't wait to get started reading and I am impressed that they have helped you so much and hope I can get the most from them as well.

Where do you live Juanita? I live in Australia and swear by the site http://booko.com.au/ when buying books.

Just in one year.....the sky's the limit. There are plenty of websites (dpreview.com) and youtube videos that also explain how proper exposure works. It's obvious, but read your manual a few times. I have read mine multiple times so I completely understand how to use my camera. Last bit of advice, once you get somewhat comfortable with the camera.....go out and try things. Don't just read everything. Try the exercises and the different things those authors suggest.

Another thought Juanita. I stupidly bought myself two The Digital Photography boxed set by Scott Kelby. The second set is still sitting here in its Amazon packaging so if you were thinking if getting it I'd be happy to price match and sell it to you.

@kjarn I will check out that site thanks - I am in Aussie as well :) @mattyb Thank you for the good advice, I have read through the manual but yes should read through it again some stage. Will be sure to experiment as I go along, just trying to decide which book/books to check out first.
