I was hoping that you could give me some feedback on the photograph I just posted, whether its to dark and needs more detail, how the lighting could be improved upon.

I actually really like it.. I think it captures the mood and atmosphere very well. I like that he is sort of in silhouette, but you can see the light on the book and his hands, which draws the attention there very nicely. Perhaps there could be a bit more light on his face.. but personally I think that would spoil the effect a bit. :)
I agree that the lighting you have adds to the mood of the shot. Sometimes, processing the photo through photoshop can lighten it up. However, I do not edit well. I am concentrating on getting good compositions by doing very little editing at this point. Welcome to the 365 project!
