Chipped Lens

I dont mean Chipped as in damaged, I mean Chipped as in chipped to fit certain Cameras, Its late gone Midnight so apologies if I dont make sense, I have a Minolta Dynax something or other, Cant be bothered to get up and go search for it, like I said its late, I have a Sigma Lens for it, A Macro one up to 300mm I think, Was £200 going back about 10 Years but the Minolta Camera is an SLR not a DSLR, I'd really like a DSLR but I need to either save or get one on a buy now pay later type scheme, Im taking Photos of a Wedding end of July so would love a new Camera for then anyhow I asked at Jessops if the Lens could be used on a DSLR without seeing the Lens I was told only Sonys because Minolta were taken over by Sonys, Someone had previously told Me Nikons but then I was reading up about it and it said an SLR Lens wouldn't fit on a DSLR unless the Lens was chipped which Im sure it isnt, Anyone shed any light on this ?

Typically, if the mount is the same it will still work, however certain aspects like AF will not, so those lenses (typically) become manual-focus-only lenses. Also, you will probably have to use the aperture ring on the lens, as the body won't be able to adjust that either (but then again, it might, if the lens has the lug on the camera-end allowing the aperture to be adjusted from the camera body). HTH!

@jinximages Thanks for replying, I get You now, I guess I could always take My Lens to a Camera Shop and ask what it will/wont fit.
