Getty Images invite through flick

May 3rd, 2011
HI all,
I just opened my flickr account tonight and there was a message saying "We’re reaching out to you because Getty Images was contacted by one of their customers who is interested in licensing one of your images:

To facilitate this potential sale the Getty Images team is pleased to offer you an invitation to enroll in the Flickr collection on Getty Images. The request is time-sensitive, so if you're interested, find out how to get started at the Flickr page below:

So my question to you all is has anyone ever done this? do you think I am being scammed in some way? Or is this just my lucky day

You're not being scammed, but be aware that they aren't offering top dollar. Getty is partnering with Flickr and they can and will find your images, but keep in mind they are likely bidding very low to get your image.

It's still an honor to be selected, but be prepared to basically give your images away.

@marubozo Thanks Jeremy for the feedback I appreciate it

What an honor. Even if you decide not to do it, it's very cool that you were asked.

Completely agree with @marubozo

It is an honor, but should be avoided at all costs. Getty Images is offering 1/10 the normal licensing fee for such a deal, and Flickr is actually making quite a bit of money off your photo as a "Third-Party Negotiator". It's complete rubbish.
