The Latest on the Moment in May

May 2nd, 2010
It is fun seeing what 365-ers have posted for their moment in May.. Remember to use "moment in may" or "global mosaic" as a tag so we can enjoy each other's efforts.

Now from the NY Times:

First of all, thank you to the hundreds and hundreds of photographers around the world who have already contributed their unique pieces to the “Moment in Time” mosaic.

To those who are having trouble doing so, please accept our apologies.

As of 3 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (19:00 U.T.C.), we’ve received 3,355 photographs. We’re now preparing a sampler slide show that we plan to publish at 6 p.m. on Sunday. We next plan to publish several thousand of your pictures on Tuesday, May 4, shown on an interactive display that will allow you to sort them geographically and thematically. Following that, we hope to present a gallery of all submissions as soon as possible after the submission deadline expires (15:00 U.T.C., Friday, May 7).

That’s the good news.

Now, for the bad news: several dozen people have reported difficulty in using the submission form today. (As distinct from people who tried to use the submission form before they could possibly have taken a picture.)

One general problem that we should have anticipated in our instructions is that iPhones do not support uploading through Web forms.
What to Do Now

If you cannot get the submission form to work, you may e-mail your photograph to us as an attachment to an e-mail message at pix@nyt.com. Be sure to use the word “moment” in the subject line of your message. In the body of the message, please include your name, the location where the photograph was taken (city, town, village / state, province, county, territory, region / country) and a one- or two-sentence caption explaining the picture’s significance. Your JPEG file must be less than 5MB.

Remember that even though your picture must have been taken as close as possible to 15:00 U.T.C. on Sunday, May 2, you have until Friday, May 7, to submit it.

So we should be able to overcome any technical difficulties you’re now facing. Meanwhile, thank you for your perseverance as your moment in time stretches into an hour or more.
