For the first time in 4 years and over 60,000+ digital photos taken... I lost photos. my memory card reader corrupted my D300's memory card to the point the camera could no longer read it, and I lost a week's worth of 365project photos, and a bunch taken this past weekend at a car show and of my friend's car...
Moral of the story... don't buy those $2 memory card readers from Ebay... I got sick of the nice ones for $20 breaking on me (the pins would break/bend), so I thought I could cheap out... well, now I ain't got no photos (I only lost about 60 from the past week, so nothing horribly tragic, but could've been worse if it was a special event)...
Sorry to hear. I feel your pain. I had a 1TB external harddrive crash on me last week. I lost all of my pictures from the past 2-3 years. All of the pictures of my son. Memories. Everything.
I really am starting to hate electronics. On top of the harddrive, the camera wont focus, I can't shut my laptop down without having to do system restore, our netbook...dont even get me started on that peice of crap! And our brand new notebook (those ipad looking things - that we bought to replace the netbook) wont connect to the internet anymore. Its just one thing after another.
@hmgphotos Heidi there is recovery software out there that can often retrieve files from corrupted cards, have you tried that? (assuming you have not formatted the card already). I've used a free version found online before and it worked, but can't remember the name.
