SLR ~ Nikon or Canon ~ please help!

August 6th, 2011
I currently own and use 3 point and shoot cameras and have decided it's time to graduate to a SLR. I am having a hard time deciding between a Canon EOS Rebel T3 12.2 MP or a Nikon D3100 14.2MP. They are both comparable in price and specs. See link below.

I would like any and all suggestions from the 365 family. Thank you in advance for the input.

My suggestion would be to go to a camera shop and see how they feel in your hand. I have a Canon myself, but have never had a Nikon DSLR.

You really can't go wrong with either one. I agree with @minxymissk You need to hold them in your hands and decide which one feels best. Try the controls and decide which ones make the most sense to you. I originally bought a Canon Rebel, but after I tried out a Nikon D90, I sent the rebel back and got the Nikon. It just felt better to me. You may discover that the Canon feels better to you. Just be aware: once you decide on the camera body, you have to stick with it because Canon lenses won't work on Nikons and vice versa. I'm totally happy with my Nikon and I know others who are totally happy with their Canons.
