looking back

August 26th, 2011
I was just going thru my album tonight and was looking back at what I have taken (in the beginning very bad). I definitely question why I posted the photos I have shared but see a few I actually like.

Have any of you looked back? I always seem to question why I posted what I did at that time, but thought then, it was ok, not so much now. Make sense?

I do that constantly. It is a sign of growth as a photographer. You can see areas that you would have improved, different angles for the shot, etc. It's a good thing!

@scooter I have kept a journal on the shots I have taken

I like looking back. Some of my first shots make me cringe, but I can see I am getting better and it makes me want to carry on so I can keep improving.

I try not to look back too far.... I don't like what I see in the first few months!

When I look back too far, I cringe - what was I thinking? One can only hope that if there's that much improvement in just one year, imagine how much better my work will be in another year!

Thanks guys! I know I do not like what I see looking back, so I look forward to improving more! Off to camp this weekend. Hope to take some scenic shots over the weekend. One area I would like to work on. I am terrible at them!

You are right @digitime , it is a good thing!

@bkbinthecity That is cool about the journal!
@juliehill I know I cringe at what I have posted too!!
@timtam_adams I am there with you, think to myself, why did I post that, it is awful!
@timandelke Cringing here at some of my stuff!! I wonder what I was thinking!! ha ha, hope mine improves!

Many of my early photos are awful, but like others have said I see it as a sign of improvement. Just hoping I keep improving.

I do look back and realize I may have not been a bad photographer in the past, but I have grown in style and technique. Starting in January during winter should be a great excuse because it is hard to get out of the house.

I sometimes look at recent photos and sometimes just ask "really? you just posted that and thought it was good." But I was trying something so it is okay.

Other times like today I post photos that clearly did not work out so I can go back to them and see that I tried something new but plan on more practice so I can see the before and after.

also there is a very good reason there are no fizzy shots or water drop crowns on my page.

I look back at my own photos and all the favs I have to gather inspiration and to self-critique my photos. This way I figure I can grow as a photographer
