@harsha paintshop. It is a photo effect and I think it works really nice. I sometimes adjust to curves just to give a glow for black and white.

did you use a IR filter or did you remove the IR protection from the camera?

No, I cheated - I couldn't find an IR filter compatible with my camera, so I used the IR function on Photoshop.

I love the second one too :)
