Camera strap/sling

November 5th, 2011
Somewhere I know I've seen a camera strap or a sling that mounts to the tripod mount and then the entire mount slides up and down the strap so you can put the strap sideways across your shoulder and the camera can slide down to your side and out of the way, or slide up to photo taking position without having to adjust how the strap fits on your shoulder.

I'm wanting to add it to my Amazon wish list for Christmas, but I can't find the name of one right now, which is frustrating. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I think I found it - Black Rapid RS-7. Anyone have any experience with this or other similar straps?

I have had a Black Rapid strap since they were first released (2008?). I LOVE IT. I fully trust the strap, and it makes carrying a camera very easy. A few months ago I purchased the dual one, which is great for anyone who shoots with two bodies.

If you're willing to spend the money, I'd definitely say go for a Black Rapid!

Nod
I use a single strap Black Rapid with my DSLR. Won't switch back unless I use heavy lenses (like 300f2.8 which I don't)!

I recently bought two new strap thingabobbers. One is an Opteka hand strap, that basically just wraps around your hand. I love it - it hasn't really left my D3000. At the same time, I bought a Camera Buddy, which screws into the tripod mount and lets you wear your camera with the lens pointing down. I haven't hardly used that all - I just didn't see where it was all that much more comfortable then just wearing the camera around my neck. I'm thinking of getting rid of it, actually - I need to find a camera equipment swap meet. :)

I use Black Rapid straps and wouldn't trade them for anything! They're well-designed and inspire confidence that my equipment will always be there when I need it and out of the way when I don't. And I don't get tired of carrying around an extra camera or lens. Get one - you'll never look back!

I vouch for them. Have used a couple of models, and love them. Currently using RS-4.
