You can do them in Picasa or Picnik (or any other editing software). Just add text and choose font. I asked the same when I started and that was what I was told...! :)
either that or if you want a graphical image create the image you want in black and white to create a black watermark copy and paste a black on white background image as a new layer with "Multiply" properties resize and merge and to create a white watermark create a negative image of the black and white image so it is a white image on a black background then copy and paste as a new layer with "screen" properties. resize and merge. you can before merging the layers change the opacity of the watermark layer so that it blends into the picture or leave it as is :)
@emmilou I found Picnik to be super easy for adding text. It will allow you to add text, then choose the style of font & also the ability to "soften the text as well. You can make it any size you want and also place it where you want in your photo. I hope that helps :)
@emmilou I made a brush in photoshop (goodle it, plenty of tutorials out there that explain it better than I can *lol*).
I mostly use it to dodge or burn an area rather than using a paint color, I find it can be slightly less intrusive, or I can make it obvious when I do want it, well, obvious.
As a brush it's also easy to scale up or down as needed instead of a separate graphic that I layer on top (which is what I used to do).
Photoshop Elements
I have been scrounging google searches all day & finally found something I could use! So I just thought I'd share the link in case anyone else reading this thread has Photoshop Elements. (I have 5.0, which is different to the one in the video, but was pretty much the same.)
