Having recently received my "Glass Globe" or "Crystal Ball" in the mail, ideas are springing eternal, and I am seeing many clever globe shots; so why not a challenge?!
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to take shots of images through your glass sphere. There is no limit on what you can shoot, be it landscape, macro, dogs, fish, or grandpa joe's old hat; just give it a go and tag it with "challenge-globe". I will post my top pics for a vote on 4 Mar and will announce the Grand Marshall of Globes on 7 Mar.
Rules:
(1) Contest begins today (25 Feb) and ends 3 Mar.
(2) For consideration in this contest, entries must be taken and posted during the contest period and tagged with challenge-globe
(3) If you prefer NOT to use this contest as inspiration for your daily project, you may POST the photo entry to any date on your calendar, as long as the EXIF shows the capture date to be within the contest dates.
You can share your images in this discussion thread by copying the code below "SHARE" on your project photo page and pasting it in the discussion box here.
Took this too early to be considered, but am going to post it in this thread. I was at a baby shower last Saturday and found this hanging in the dining room. I had to get this picture and am very happy with it:
First off I LOVE the dog in the ball photo. Classic!!
Second, I am in the middle of shooting a week into my crystal ball, so this works well for me. Yeah!
These are my past two days:
Suburgatory, which by some fluke is having its five minutes of fame on the PP
Crossing into the Future, which is for some silly reason now very jealous.
I feel a rush on balls coming on!! By the time we get them the challenge will have finsihed...:-( Maybe a second one later? I was wondering why suddenly so many of these were appearing......I love the idea....just need a ball now.....
Aaron, I'm wondering what size is best. This one is (from their argument, between the size of a softball and a baseball). Is that too big? or is bigger, better? haha ;-)
@mainebrighteyes I definitely wouldn't go bigger than "between a baseball and softball." Baseball = ideal. Softball = way too big and heavy. You can go as small as a kiwi too if you want to. The photo above that I took while playing around has a tiny marble that would fit in a thimble... and it does the job :)
@karlin I got mine at Evangeline's in Old Sac. I would recommend asking at the cash register. They had them in stock when I went in but they had to get it out of the stock upstairs. They offer several sizes but I got the 80mm one for $10.
