It might be fun to recreate an old photograph.
I managed to do this and posted my effort which gained some favourable comment - perhaps during the first 2 weeks of July you would like to have a go?
(Cut off date 14th July)
In the excellent Tancredi Museum in Mont San Angelo, Puglia, S Italy, there is the photo on the left. Mr Tancedi himself can be seen with his walking stick.
I managed to find the point from which it was taken and my effort is on the right.
I have not quite got the viewpoint right but am not going to go back to try again!
I did this a little while ago based on a photo that was in our house when we moved in. Here is my effort: I suppose I haven't really re-created it, but wanted to show what had and hadn't changed in the past hundred years or so.
Wow! I've got two of my mother and a friend take about twenty-five years apart. The first photo was taken in the mid 1950s. He's showing her a small Indonesian oil dispenser. Some years later he and his wife came to visit and I reproduced the shot using the same furniture and same oil dispenser. The other aritifact seen in the original photo was lost after the first shot. Now quite "Then and Now", but "Then and Later", as the photo cannot be reproduced today-both people are now gone.
:))
Many thanks for your contributions but not enough of them to make a competition!
I obviously do not know how to promote a competition to get it going - perhaps next time?
