Hello 365ers! I'm honored and excited to be hosting Album Cover Challenge #16. If you haven't tried it yet you should. I found the challenge really good fun and can be a good distraction from the fear of trying to get another photo for your project.
The rules of the challenge are as follows:
1. Go to http://www.wikipedia.org/ and hit 'random article' on the left. The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2. Go to http://www.quotationspage.com/ and hit 'random quotes' on the left. Scroll down. The last 4-6 words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your album.
3. Now go take a photo that fits with your album!
4. Use your favourite editing program to create your cover. (there are many free ones on-line)
5. Share your image (or images, you can do as many as you like) with us by tagging it with 'albumcoverchallenge16' !
This challenge will run from today March 25th until 10pm April 6th (USA PST) and then I'll choose some favourites from which everyone can vote for the winner. There is no limit to the number of entries you can make, just make sure to tag them as instructed above.
To share an entry in the thread, go to your uploaded image and find the area under your photo data that says "Share". Copy the code from the box and paste it in the discussion thread here.
You can use a previously shot image or one you shoot just for this competition, but you MUST use your OWN images!!
Band: The Peruvian Frogs.
I originally got Eleutherodactylus aniptopalmatus as my random Wiki subject (with a name like that, it would probably have to be a box-set, not just an album!). Seeing as I cannot even begin to pronounce this in my mind, let alone out loud, I took the slightest of mental side-steps and, after reading the blurb, came up with a new band name - The Peruvian Frogs.
Wiki entry:
“Eleutherodactylus aniptopalmatus is a species of frog in the Leptodactylidae family. It is endemic to Peru. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.”
The album title turned out much better!
Album: Sold by the unprincipled to the utterly bewildered.
From the quote:
"[Abstract art is] a product of the untalented, sold by the unprincipled to the utterly bewildered."; Al Capp (1909 - 1979)
Well I haven't tried this before, but happy to give it a go.
Band: HandyMan
Album Tile: Help Further his Philosophy (sounds like a bit of a mind-bender).
"The US celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. day today. King's actual birthday was January 15th. Read our Martin Luther King Jr. quotations or visit The King Center to find out more about Dr. King and how you can help further his philosophy".
I shall have to give this a go again - see if it helps with my photo mojo :)
My Band is "Radial Spoke" and the album title is "Fear is the mind-killer" taken from :
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. Frank Herbert (1920 - 1986), Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear, "Dune"
@colie : thanks - I had no idea what I was going to do with the quote - and then I spotted this bit of graffiti calling to me :) That's what I like about all these challenges - they sure make you look at the world differently !
