The idea of "Mad Minute Word" -challenge is simple; an obscure, unusual word is presented and the challenge is to create an image using that word as an inspiration.
The challenge starts now, but hold your horses ; please do not post your image until Sunday 21-Apr. The next word will be presented on Monday and the image of that word should be posted on Thursday. So, 2 mad minute words / week.
To get the ball rolling, I have selected the first word :
"Zugzwang (German for "compulsion to move", pronounced [ˈtsuːktsvaŋ]) is a situation found usually in chess, but also in various other games, where one player is put at a disadvantage because he has to make a move when he would prefer to pass and make no move. The fact that the player must make a move means that his position will be significantly weaker than the hypothetical one in which it was his opponent's turn to move." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zugzwang
Please use tag 'mmw-zugzwang' and you can also post your image to this thread.
I have decided in my infinite wisdom that the next word is selected by @spirrowshoot since she is the original wordsmith here. During next week, I will review the zugzwang pictures and select one picture from the bunch which gives me the best zugzwangy vibes. The person who did that image, will select the word for next Friday. I will post that information to this thread.
With same logic, @spirrowshoot will select the person responsible for the next Monday's word.
But remember, this is not a competition but an exercise in creativity. Think outside the box, push the limits... and have fun!
Sorry have been MIA guys, but logging in just te check your entries and the progress of this. Fabulous choices Jani, off camping with 8-10 yrs old ( groan) but missin' you all a lot, have a lovely weekend and hear you when back on Sunday! Have a fabulous weekend!
"zugzwang " is used in German not only relating to games such as chess, its also used in the figurative sense. To bring somebody 'Unter Zugzwang' forces this person to act in any way .
Jani, do you mind if I move the posting of Monday's word to Wednesday, instead of Thursday? It just makes sense to have an equal number of days for each word.

@khirsch Yep, this info is definitely helpful. I might even use it. Thanks!
