... the first person you see after leaving your house (originally connected to special occasions such as new year's when a dark haired man brings good luck while a red-headed female brings bad!)
This should be something everyone can attempt to do so I look forward to seeing loads of photos of milkmen postpeople & and happily tipsy types returning from a night on the town - this can relate to any time you leave the house in the next couple of days so be ready :o)
Photos relating to this word should be posted on Wednesday.

"The idea of Mad Minute Words is we present a strange (and/or lovely) word to you, and you draw from it as inspiration for your photo... to keep it acceptably mad, we're doing two words a week, one presented on Monday/posted Wednesday and another on Friday/posted on Sunday."
@gozoinklings wow! Now that is a wide open theme right there! I have not dine the last few Mad minutes....but this one sounds pretty easy and fun! I wonder how you pronounce that word? Will go look it up!
@espyetta that's what i thought everyone can have a go - i suppose deciding on the criteria for choosing the one to carry on could be hard but just liked the idea!
@lbluejaye8 hmmm ... i guess eventually we will run out of real weird words and have to start making them up :o) but really, this is an old word from the Isle of Man, or Manx english
@gozoinklings Okay - that would be why I didn't find it on www.dictionary.com. I know some weird words - I'm an English teacher - and I use strange words like "xanthippe" and "mondegreen" and "zymurgy" to get them interested in language, i.e. origins, pronunciation, affixes, etc. :)
Those are horrible quality pics I just put up. But they were in a dim house with an iphone, with babies who move constantly! Haha Still wanted to share them!
