One of the key aspects of "get pushed" is that we get "pushed" out of our photographic comfort zones... this means that you need to find something that is a CHALLENGE for your partner...
look thru the recent months of their project and come up with something they don't seem to have done, or have indicated struggling with... it could be a type of subject, a compositional technique, a particular camera setting, use of light, anything... as long as it is something they don't seem to have done, or done much of...
if you're paired with someone who appears very experienced and accomplished, give them a concept challenge - eg.: interpret a word (something a bit intangible like "silence", or "ambiguous"... not a thing like "animal" or "toy")...
looking thru your partner's albums needn't take a lot of time... but it is very much appreciated when this effort is invested...
Explain what your challenge was when posting your shot. This helps the previous week's winner when they are choosing the week's finalists. And if someone is cruising the photos with a "get pushed" tag, they like to see what the challenge was when looking at your photo.
-- Saturday / Sunday, Nov 29 and 30 - find your partner and issue a challenge
-- Monday Dec 1 thru Sunday Dec 7 - take a picture (or pictures) in response to the challenge issued to you, and post it with the tag: Get-Pushed-123, and comment on the photos taken in response to your challenge
-- Monday, December 8 - the winner of week 122 will pick 5 finalists for a vote
1. Find your partner from the list below and click on their name to get to their profile
2. Browse through the last couple of months of photos to get a feel for what they shoot and don't shoot etc.
3. Post an introduction on their last photo, and also issue the challenge you are setting.
RESPOND TO A CHALLENGE
4. You have until midnight next Sunday, to take and post your shot or shots.
5. When posting your shot WRITE A SHORT DESCRIPTION about
-- who challenged you,
-- what the challenge was,
-- what you found hard about it etc.
6. Make sure to tag your shot for the challenge.... Get-Pushed-123
7. Tag your challenger in a COMMENT (not just your write-up). You MUST tag your partner in a separate comment... tagging them in your write-up of your photo is not sufficient as it will not result in them getting a notification...
ALSO
8. it is nice to visit the photo that was made in response to your challenge and offer some comments and maybe even some constructive criticism...
9. On the Monday after the challenge is over, the winner of the previous week will pick 5 finalists for a vote, this can be based purely on their fav photos, who they felt best met the challenge etc, etc.
@northy Hi Northy. I can't find my name here. If I can't be included this week can you put me back in for next week please. Thank you for all your hard work with this.
@macromover hey Jan... last week it seemed like you'd gone missing - so i didn't pair you up this week... then again, i'm not paired up either... wanna partner with me?
@northy Hi Northy, could you please take me of the list from next week. I'm very busy at the moment and can't find the time and energy I feel like I need to put in the challenge. I hope to be back in the future! Thanks!
@anniemc051 Hi Annie, hi Northy @northy I think I have to skip that week. I currently have some big issues with my internet at home and I don't know when that will be fixed. So I wont be able to upload any photos at the moment. So Annie I could still offer a challenge for you but I am not sure if I can fulfill your challenge then.
@northy sorry, just spotted your reply. Yes would love to partner up. I'll post a challenge now on your project. I did post an entry but I am afraid it was a bit late and only got chance last night.
@marenh hi Maren... Sorry to hear about your internet woes... Do you want me to take you off the list for the next few weeks? Or I you expect to be back up and running for next week? Just let me know...
@northy Hi Northy. The person I was paired with @tstb has not posted since 21st November - I did notice on Sunday but when I often post several days at the 1 time I decided to give them to today to see if they posted anything since that date but they have not. There is also a Get Pushed Challenge on that date. Also just to let you know I will be unavailable from W/C 15th December 2014 until W/E 9th January 2015.
@la_photographic hi Laura... there's no one else looking for a partner right now, but i will try to remember to issue you a challenge later tonight... feel free to nag me if i don't... ;p
@neatz I'm so sorry Anita... you might want to check in with @kali66 to see if she wants to do a last minute push challenge with you... i will do my best to see that you get an active partner for next week...
@northy Telling you this kind of late, but wanted to let you know that my get pushed partner, Jule @justaspark has not given me a challenge, nor responded to the challenge I gave her. She's posted some pictures since, but I don't think she saw either my challenge, or the followup comment I put on her posting later that week. I don't need to have a challenge this week (it's almost over anyway) but for next week you might try to find out if she wants to do a get pushed.
@northy don't worry now, just wondering why no go, looked and has not posted since 24 oct. I sometimes think that someone who tends to do one thing like portraits, ignores challenges they don't fancy? Maybe. Just had a bad run
@neatz@northy Hi, Anita. A couple of weeks back I was paired with Gabriel. He replied to my comment giving him a challenge and gave me one. When he commented on my photo that was in response to his challenge, he said "wait for mine" but I don't see that he posted anything for the challenge. But I just wanted to let you know that he's alive and out there, apparently just taken up with his studio portrait work (which is really good). His latest posting on November 24 is another portrait. Not sure how interested he is in get pushed. He'd have to speak to that.
@justaspark Hi, Jule! I gave you a challenge on the 28th (your boot picture) and was pretty sure you didn't see it. It looks like you didn't see my other comment on your candy picture you posted on 12/2. Do you have your "Notifications" setting set to email you when someone comments on your photos?"
Don't worry about it. It is a very busy season, and I imagine especially so for students. If you'd like to try the challenge I gave you sometime in the future when you have the time, tag me on the photo you post so I can see it. If not, as I said, no worries. On to the next week's challenges and have a good week!
@mcsiegle Ah I saw it! Really have missed both comments, sorry again :( The challenge is nice and so I will try to do it one day and ofcourse I'll tag you :)
