These are great! WHEN I can get my zoom lens, I will be obsessed with moon shots. As it is now, I have only the 18-55mm VR lens that came with my Nikon D3100, so I haven't enough zoom to get me to the moon! I have wondered which lens will be best for me, wanting a good zoom, and something I can get a great macro with, too. Anyway, great shots! I would be THRILLED to get these.
@camarobabe awww thank you... but it ain't enough :( well as for me.. i want my moon shots to be as detailed as possible... T__T a 400mm is to die for.. but i'd like to have a macro more than having a power zoom.. ^__^ hihihihi thank u again carly!!
I completely understand! We all want to continue taking it to the next level--why not shoot for the moon, literally!?...(laugh). You're welcome....can't wait to see more!
I`m not that fascinated by moon shots, because it looks the same. I mean, besides being sometime half, sometimes full,it has the same look.I guess I only like the moon when it`s part of a bigger picture.Like in the backround or halfway out of the clouds.
..with my lack of tripod and my amateur-ish camera/lens (Olympus E-410, Zuiko 40-150 lens),my few attempts of moon shots came nothing close to spectacular.
Here`s my only one from "365",it`s obviously edited:
...and here`s a "cleaner" shot,on my FlickR:

minus the flare thing that's already spectacular.... i can see the details on the moon!! ^___^ great shot... i dunno why i love taking moon shots, maybe because i can't "STILL" have the best moon shot iwanna hjave.. that frustrates me a little.. @spaceman
Niiiiice. I was never, ever, ever, EVER, able to take ANY kind of moon shots. It always ends up looking like a spec of white dust on my camera. :)) SO GOOD JOB! XD Excellent detail.
very beautiful indeed! the purple-ish moon is hypnotizing.. Oh my, i wanna take some pics like that, too, but i think my nikon digital camera is not gonna allow me that shot just yet. it's a nikon coolpix s4000. it's ok with day shots, i'm not sure if it's friendly with night shots, nor the moon. ♫
I LOVE taking pictures of the moon even if I'm not that great at it, but I don't think its for everyone as I find it takes a LOT of shots and a LOT of patience to get a decent one! :)
There's a couple of mine. :)
I gave it a go. I'd love to have something more along the lines of an awesome telescope with a camera mount... for now, my 30 year old telephoto lens will have to do.
I love shooting the moon, because it means I am outside on clear nights! Here is a photo that for a challenge I added a moon and stars too... it was a mid-morning picture I believe...
Funny you should mention the moon, I've got it as my laptop wallpaper right now (believe me it was hard to pull it down and shrink it so it'd fit on my screen)
Not sure how to post photos on the forums here (*raises 'n00b sign*) but here's the best one I've ever taken.
This was handheld at craters of the moon national park, and shot through the back window of the minivan (no I don't know why I didn't just get out of the car!)
@binabrockbank I AGREE!!! it's not as easy as it may seem.. it took me an hour to get a decent shot and for the bonus, i've got stiff neck! lol.. GORGEOUS SHOTS!!!! the photo at the middle... TO DIE FOR!
@maceugenio - It was taken on my Nikon D300s, but with a 30 year old Nikon 80-200mm lens that was donated to a camera club I'm a member of. Not a bad lens at all, but it's full manual and has fairly heavy distortion at full zoom.
The moon is one of my favorite subjects! I have a whole set of moon shots on Flickr... here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/39384780@N07/sets/72157625365999344
And this is one of my favorites... the Sturgeon Moon rising:

I have these moon shots. I'm not great at these though
You might think this is the sun at first but it is actually a long exposure of the moon setting.
Here's one my husband took with our sony camera!
The other lined up with our grape vine:
This is one my latest moon ones. They are so much fun to shoot!
