DON'T FORGET THE ST. PATRICK DAY MACRO CONTEST!!!!!

March 11th, 2016
We have spent the last 2 weeks reading and practicing macro photography. I hope you have all learned something new about this type of photography. I know my macro photography has greatly improved (not hard because I was lost when it came to my macro lens!) I learned how to best use my macro lens to focus when I'm using a tripod and when handheld.

Now, I propose we continue to learn about macro photography by instituting thematic or technique challenges within macro photography. We can choose a theme like insects, a color, an object or even a room (like the kitchen)! I'm sure we can come up with some new and innovative challenges! I'd like to see this challenge continue each time with a link to a website or article pertaining to macro photography. This will enable us to continue to learn and improve our technique while adding in a fun challenge!

To help celebrate St. Patrick's Day lets do a macro St. Patrick's Day challenge. Interpret it any way you want. Green, leprechauns, shamrocks whatever reminds you of this fun holiday! This challenge will run from Monday, March 7 through Saturday, March 12. After the deadline for entries ends, I will pick 5 finalists and put it out for voting thru Friday, March 18 The winner of the challenge will choose the next theme and put the challenge out for all.

Please tag your photos macros-St.Paddys and feel free to also post them here to inspire others to join us! To see all of the entries use this link

I hope this will be an interactive and helpful forum with people offering tips, advice or suggestions. If you would like to be included in the list going forward please reply to this post and we'll include you.

Here's the learning link for this weeks challenge. Its a link to Digital Photography World and it talks about creative ideas for close up photography and how to come up with them. It helped me to think out of the box and come up with lots of ideas for this challenge.
