How do you create signatures on your digital pictures? I post many pictures online, but they are my own work and property and I would like to know how to "imprint" a signature on them before they are uploaded. Any suggestions? Can I still keep originals for my personal collection without the signature?
I add my signature in photoshop. I just create a new layer write what I want my signature to say, then set the opacity. I like my signature to be faint, but still noticable. Yes you can keep an original. Just save it as a new picture. :D
I'm pretty sure you can add a signature with any software. Even paint. You may not be able to change the opacity of the signature, but you'll be able to add one.
you can look at my project.... i use picnik.com for all of my editing.. (it's free if you sign up for ace membership. then i create text (there are tons of fonts), make it a color that blends in and adjust the fade. i try to keep my watermark from standing blatantly out so that the image still maintains some of its original quality... http://365project.org/andiejaye/365 hope this helps and welcome to the project!!
I always watermark a separate, smaller image for the sake of any use on the internet. It can be done is loads of programs. I use photoshop and have created a brush of my copyright to make it easy to apply before saving the 'internet' copy. I also add a drop shadow and emboss it to make it more defined without taking over the shot. It's definitely worth doing this. They are, after all, your shots. They are all protected via meta data but this doesn't stop others using your images for things and claiming the glory (like in 365).
Whenever I need to watermark something, I upload the image to Picnik.com and use the TEXT option to put my name onto the image. You can set the font, color and size however you want, and place it wherever you want. YOu can also decide if you want opaque and obivious, or faded and subtle. If you need more info on this, let me know.
Watermarks draw the attention of thieves, because it makes them look more valuable/important.So they snatch it,edit the mark out and sell it.
...just kidding.
For all newbies I recommend PhotoScape,a surprisingly GREAT and free simple photo editor, with quite a few feature.Including text,so you can put your "signature" on it in a variety of customised ways.
it's very easy to create a watermark in Photoshop... it's something i could do for you or probably anyone else here. or like someone said Picnik. my 11 year old did hers in Picknik :)
I use a program called Photo Mechanic as my photography database program. I work as a photographer, though, so many of you may not have heard of this or even need it. But through Photo Mechanic I can apply watermarks to any photo with a few clicks.
I created a PSD file in Photoshop that contains my watermark, which you can view on my project. Photo Mechanic just loads that PSD file wherever I tell it to put the watermark.
Photoshop can do the same thing using Action Scripts. You can write a script to open a PSD file, put it on the bottom-right corner, and then save. Write the script once, and only click one button from then on. Saves tons of time.
I use Photoshop for all my watermarking. I wrote two separate action files. These files reduce the file size optimize the color profile, resolution and dimensions for web display and place my watermark at the bottom. I wrote an action for portait orientation and landscape orientation...invaluable tool...I use it repeatedly EVERY DAY!
ciao
