I thought of doing a photobook for my pictures and right now I am starting to collect my best photos. I am sure you have done something that you are proud of and probably already printed your own photobook.
Please show us your photobook's cover(s) here and if you want put a link to show the content as well.
Tell us more about which company you went for to print out the book. It will be interesting to compare prices, experiences and techniques.
LOVE the photobooks from www.picaboo.com - they have fabulous options for layouts, lots of control over the backgrounds, customizable cover options, etc - and the price is comperable to other places I have ordered from, with much better quality!
I've done three using my publisher http://www.mypublisher.com/
1. general book (hardcover) for my parents covering my first year(ish) in australia, simple Kangaroo photo in the cut out window on the front
2. Memory book (softcover) for my two younger sisters. They're really close to each other and the last one was just graduating HS and headed to Uni, was a way for them to have some pics of each other from the last time we were all at ocean city together. simple beach photo on the front
3. a memorial book (softcover) for my cat that got killed, helped me get past that low point. Close up kitten photo of her on the front.
Have done quite a few photo albums using iPhoto & Mac. Not the cheapest option but easy and good quality. Will definitely make a 365Project album but have 355 days to go!
I have made a few photobooks on snapfish.co.uk (I believe the website is)
But I only did one for myself and that was off my pets. The others I did were for family, I made one for my mum of her granddaughter. One for my brother of his daughter and one for my auntie of her granddaughter. I think they make a wonderful present
I've made a few on the Jessops website - they seem to be highly customisable (is that a word? lol) and I've loved how they've come out. I did one of my favourite outdoorsy pics, one for my nieces 4th birthday, one for my mum's 60th and one of my favourite pictures of me and my boyfriend.
If I complete my 365 I'm planning on treating myself to a photobook with all my pictures in.
Jordan so you got three books. Did you like blurb's service? I have only used lulu.com
I was thinking of using blurb, they are a bit expensive but I think they have more options and they look pretty good on their website.... anyone used the same company?
Just went and checked out the www.picaboo.com It has many options but I only like two kinds. Classic Custom and Madison. Madison is so expensive though... Classic Custom seems to be at reasonable price.
Shutterfly has really improved their quality... and their big photobooks are really something beautiful. The paper is nice and the picture clarity is really nice on the page.
A few years ago I did a Shutterfly book and was less than satisfied, but after reading a few things online, I tried them again and was pleasantly surprised for a middle-of-the-road book.
@billcanada Bill I have just finished my Project 365 December 1st and put together my book of all my photos. I live in Montreal (yeah Montreal - boo Toronto:) ) and the company I used was www.photoinpress.ca
They too are located in Montreal are very very good and are very quick in producing the book. Their layouts are very simple to use and have many options as well as options to move your photos, enlarge etc. check them out.
@dora I see.. Great prices. However it didnt mention anything about what kind of paper they are using. I have asked around in town (yes only Toronto lol) to see if any printers would do booklet in different kind of paper (for example wax paper/ metallic paper). Only one company would do it but I have no idea how much it will cost. All I know was it would be expensive...
My BFF made one for me, for a friend, and for herself via Shutterfly. They turned out really cute and seem to allow a lot of flexibility to get creative. There are also templates if you don't have time/skill to go out of the box.
@suzyanneau I don't own the place but all my photobooks have been created by My Reflections.... the books are brillant and the service and help is fantastic
@mtol For the last few years we have done an annual photo book through Shutterfly with pictures throughout the year. We have been very impressed with the 12x12 books.
ive used iphoto to make a few, and always liked how they came out and the ease it was to make them. dunno if the pricing is comparable to others but now i have something to check into, id like to put my project into book form at the end...
i do know apple/iphoto limits to 100 pages or so i think so im not sure if that will be a negative or positive thing
