I know a lot of people are going to do the black and white challenge, but I like my color too much to join in on that one. I've had a lot of fun doing my selfie challenge this month. It has helped greatly with my self esteem, and it's been very inspiring. I thought it was going to be pretty tough, but in the end, I enjoyed it.
I've come up with a different challenge for myself, and I just wondered if anyone else wanted to join in. I've decided to do a movie challenge. I watch a LOT of movies. A lot a lot. I went through the movies I've rated five stars on netflix, and I picked thirty one of them. Not necessarily my top movie choices, but maybe a genre of movies I like or so on. I'm going to try to do a shot each day to represent one of the movies [a scene, a line, or just the movie in general].
Anyone else want to join in? If not for the entire month, maybe a week or something? It sounds fun to me; hopefully it'll be inspiring like the selfie challenge. If anyone decides to join in, tag your photos julychallenge-movies.
This is a great idea! I was thinking about doing something like this with the selfie challenge since I had such a hard time with it. I think I will take you up on the movie challenge though. Sounds awesome! I can't wait to see what movies you'll do.
I love the idea, but being a minimalist lifestyle I might not be able to re enact much. If anything I spose I could quote a movie somehow and post it. I think I'll do that for at least a week just to join in with you. Unless something really odd happens like an unexpected road trip. I am due to go to Sasebo sometime in July. SUPER excited about that with my new cam.
I tried to do this with my DVD collection a while back, starting alphabetically. First one on my shelf: 16 Blocks (not too sure why I own that, but ah well). Did that. Second on my shelf: two series of 24. Did that. Third on my shelf: 25th Hour (superb film if you've not seen it). Gave up.
But maybe this cherry picking idea is more viable...
@triciaanddazzle: I'm completely addicted to movies, I watch loads of them and love them so much! I migh either combine the challenges or do movies once a week, I'll see. Can't wait to see what you come up with, you're always so creative and seeing your selfies everyday was lots of fun :)!
I'm also doing some B&W this month but I love this challenge as well so I'll give this a try too; Maybe just combine the two; use some black and white movies ;-)
I was thinking of doing the selfie challenge and already had some ideas, including some that represented movies (i think there was a movie theme here several months ago). My biggest challenge is photoshop, just learning, but think it's necessary to execute my ideas the way I want. I'll try.....
the second one! (actually my "second choice idea" for today but the first one didn't work out as I wanted it to.. so I'll have to give it an other try later in the challenge)
@jannaellen ESOTSM is my absolute number one favorite movie! I haven't figured out the right way to represent it in a photo simply because I love it so much. Jon and I are going to the beach at the end of the month, so I thought I'd take a shot of it and edit a bed onto it. That or potato people. Those are the only two ideas I've had, really. Did you change her hair to blue, or are you just that lucky?
@triciaanddazzle : I can't wait to see your take on it!!! The bed idea sounds wonderful! No, I wasn't that lucky... Both her hair and her scarf are colour-edited - I thought the red scarf looked more like something Clementine would wear :). I loved the choice of movies you named in your Vanilla Sky shot, I totally agree with you about good movies :)!!!
@jannaellen Also, random, but I know some people who have two cats. One is named Clementine and the other is named Tangerine. When I found out I said, "Like in Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind!" They had no idea what I was talking about. Ha!
@elke Ooooo. That looks awesome! You know, I didn't see that movie until last year. I was like why did I not see this sooner?! It was awesome. I have the original in my netflix queue right now.
@triciaanddazzle Thank you!! But it's thanks to you! Your floating pics made me want to do this shot! The movie is such a "classic" why didn't you see it sooner??? ;-)
@elke It was one of those I intended to see way sooner, but I just never got around to it. I saw it was instant watch on netflix, so I jumped on it! I love Geena Davis so I really should have rented it or something before that. Also, I wasn't allowed to watch "scary" movies as a kid. I had to watch all of the classics once I was in my late teens.
@elke I remember seeing that when I was a kid and it was so confusing/trippy. If you play Dark Side Of The Moon with The Wizard Of Oz, it lines up. You have to start it at the second lion's roar. It's really weird.
@triciaanddazzle : I'm so thankful to you for proposing this challenge! I'd never have thought I'd go through with a full month of it but I'm enjoying myself immensely. Well, I love movies but I didn't know I love taking movie-inspired pictures that much!
@crispalacios : Love it ;). They do look threatening ;)! @elke : WOW! Love both of your new ones. I'm officially calling you queen of movie shots now! And I love your taste in movies, too :)!!!
@jannaellen I'm flattered... but if it wasn't for Tricia (@triciaanddazzle) I maybe would never come up with the idea to do a movie challenge (that slowly turned into a selfie challenge too haha)
@jannaellen I hate that I could relate to him so much, but I do count everything. I used to have a hard time paying attention in school because I had to count the blocks on the walls over and over again.
@triciaanddazzle: I was thinking about doing "Pan's Labyrinth", too - that movie was awesome but really, really creeped me out. I love your "Back to the Future"!!!
This might be a bit odd, but this is my dedication to David Attenborough's films and other awesome animal documentaries. They're movies, too, aren't they ;)?
@elke Very awesome. ET scared me pretty bad as a kid, but I had no idea what was going on. I haven't seen it in about 20 years. And Ive only seen Breakfast At Tiffany's one time. I seem to remember liking it. I liked the fact that her cat was named Cat, haha.
But maybe this cherry picking idea is more viable...
@jannaellen Hey, I figured you'd want to do this one. On month I want to do all Disney stuff. That would be fun :)
And when i say sporadically, I mean 3-5 a month
Titanic
King-Kong
Avatar
Friday the 13th
X-Men. Wolverine
Freddy Krueger
TRON. The legacy
@elke That's so cool that it's you. I never would have guessed.
Nowhere near as good as @mikhasus 's version, but still...
Here's my "Lord of the Rings" edit:

@elke : WOW! Love both of your new ones. I'm officially calling you queen of movie shots now! And I love your taste in movies, too :)!!!
