A new project

November 20th, 2014
Hi everyone. I'm new to the site, and just starting my project. I was challenged recently to post 5 black and white images each day and challenge others. After my challenge was up, I was in love with it and having too much fun to stop. Which is what lead me here. My goal is to post a black and white image every day. With that said, any input about methods for converting/processing is always welcome, and I look forward to growing with my photography. Thanks in advance!

Ron's project is all B & W this year, each of his photos includes his processing details, and he's helpful to new photographers who ask. I recommend following him at @kannafoot
Another one who is a master photographer and often posts his wonderful street shots in B & W is @icamera
Finally, go to "Browse" on the blue menu above, drop down to "tag" and then find "black and white" or "B&W," and see what catches your eye.

I trust you use something like Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom/Camera Raw, or Silver Efex from Nik. If you learn by reading I heartily recommend The Complete Guide to Black & White Digital Photography by Michael Freeman.

Thank you very much for the suggestions @cejaanderson

@frankhymus I use Photoshop/Silver Efex to get my conversions. I'll definitely check out the book. I love reading material. Thanks for the suggestion.

Jane @cejaanderson is very kind to say those nice words about my project, I'll also recommend Andy @candidzen who does some amazing B&W work.

Looking forward to following your project! I love black & whites too. I haven't tried Silver Efex yet (although I do want to eventually) but one thing I particularly like to use is the Daguerrotype filter on Picmonkey.

I recently used it to convert to B&W for these, and was really happy with the results:
