Help with photo size please

December 23rd, 2014
When I crop my photo's in picmonkey and take them to walmart and try to enlarge it, it cuts off part of my photo. I was told to go to the drop down on crop and set it at 8x10 first then crop and I can enlarge. Is this true, because when I do that it is making my photo look even smaller. Would appreciate help with this. Thanks in advance.

Your camera would take the photo in a 2:3 ration (eg 8x12) when you print at a 8x10 it is a 4:5 ration so you will loose some of your image. You can either print at a 2:3 ration or take a step back when taking the photo so you can afford to lose a bit of the photo.
I know someone will explain it better but I hope that helps a little :)

Crop them in picmonkey to the same ratio you want printed. If you want 8x10, crop to 5x4 first. Also, don't crop too small or your "pixel density" will fall below 180 (or so) pixels per inch (ppi). As I remember, Walmart's on line page will warn you if that gets too small.

Here are two posts that might help you get a grasp on aspect ratio and prints: http://www.boostyourphotography.com/2014/01/aspect-ratio.html http://www.boostyourphotography.com/2013/11/photography-gifts.html
