it's actually quite easy. All it needs is a sturdy tripod, a wide angle lens, a modern DSLR - a Canon T5i or Nikon D5300 will do just fine - your trusty Photoshop and loads of patience to sit and take 40-50 30 second shots. And a reasonably fast PC or Mac to import them all into one stack and align and blend them all, and some more patience as the computer cranks away. :)
