Photography tips for trip in July???!!!

June 2nd, 2012
On June 30, my family and I are driving to Chicago to visit my brother! I am so excited to see Chicago, as I have never been before. We are staying in an apartment near the park where the 'bean' is. Does anyone have any advice or tips on what to take pictures of while I'm there? We are staying there until July 7th! :) Anything is appreciated!

I was there last summer and got some great shots from the pier and the water around there. Also, great skyline shots from the area around the Shedd aquarium - which has beluga whales, by the way!!

The Park is Millennium Park. Just that area alone is a great place to take pictures. Here is a website with info on attractions there, and also a calendar which lists upcoming events. http://explorechicago.org/city/en/millennium.html
Personally, I'd be sure to get as many pictures of the Smurfit Stone buidling. But that's just me, it's my favorite building in all of Chicago. lol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smurfit-Stone_Building
As with any vacation state, the zoos and aquarium are great as well. Can't wait to see your pics! Have fun!

Sears Tower will afford great views. Tallest building in the city, although it's not called the Sears Tower anymore.

Bring an extra camera battery and memory cards for your camera! Eat some Garrett's Popcorn and walk down Michigan Ave.--it's one of my favorite cities! :-)

Just have a browse through Picasa or Flickr and the key shots will quickly become apparent. Have a good trip.

I just walked around the city taking photos of the buildings, statues, and fountains. I stayed at the Palmer House for a conference, you should go in and take a look at the ceiling in the lobby. The hotel is not far from the park.

I live just outside of Chicago!

Here is what I think:

Millennium Park - Cool Fountain with Water squirting out of mouths!
Bean (I think it is actually called the Cloud)
Shedd Aquarium Jellies Exhibit - ALSO - theres always tons of bird flying around there for good shots!
Navy Pier - Ferris Wheel!!!
Buckingham Fountain (In Married with Children...)
Lincoln Park Zoo
Chicago Theatre District
Water Tower - One of the few buildings to survive the Chicago Fire
Grant Park (Lot of trees/statues... nice and relaxing)
Michigan Ave. - Nice for people watching and street shots - and of course shopping! :)
Magnolia's Bakery - Get Cupcakes while you there!

Ok- I can go on but I will stop!! I wish I went into the city more!!
