Don't Do This

October 16th, 2010
I was using the title of a museum exhibition http://tinyurl.com/2vyngo8 as the title of my picture. The name of the exhibition is "Fine Arts & Flowers" with an ampersand (&). I completed my commentary and hit "save" and the comment disappeared. Foolish me, I had to go through the whole process again before I realized I hadn't hit delete by mistake.
So the lesson learned is: Don't use an ampersand in a title or the comment will disappear.

WOW, how interesting...didn't know.

Well I dont know if that has anything to do with it... because that has happened to me a total of maybe FOUR times!! and you know how long my captions are... I have no idea why it happens.. it just randomly does for me. Because my title will be something I make up! Its really frustrating when it happens because everything I wrote dissappears.... so now I select and copy my whole caption before hitting save incase it happens again...

Really? I'll test that later

Yeah, I don't think that's anything to do with the ampersand, if I'm honest... That just happens, from time-to-time... :/

@lauren211 The same thing has happened to me!!! My captions disappear, and i have to retype it! Oh its rough.
Hope we can get it worked out!!

It happened to me to, twice. And both time, I started writing my comment, was interrupted and did something else for a few mins and came back. So I think that happens when you stay on the page to long, before clicking save... for me anyway. Hope that helps.

Sounds like there might be Fails in different situations. Mine was definitely not from staying on the page too long. I typed, then hit "save" then it all disappeared--twice and after changing "&" to "and" the comment posted smooth as can be. Just posting this as a cautionary tale. Consider it or not as it suits.

I understand it disappears if its 'timed out' so I select all (control + A) then copy and hit save. If it didn't save I just paste it in and whalla! nothing but the title lost.

Ohhh I hate it when the page "times out" Grrrr!

I automatically copy the text now "just-in-case"!

not allowing & is likely used to stop hacking... here is a uber geek joke about it!
