Hi everyone,
I'm very new to all this and am amazed by some of the fantastic photos I'm seeing in here. One thing I notice is that most people have a signature on their photos and was wondering how to do that. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Kathy
There was a post about that a while ago. It seems that some people pictures are being stolen and used by other people. The signatures act as a deterrent.
I think it's terrible that people would steal other people's work and a great idea to put your own name on your own work and as soon as I work out how to do it I'll be doing it too.
What photo software do you use? I use Lightroom and Photoshop, and both of those can do it very easily. If you're using the Ace membership software someone else will have to direct you, however.
@jinximages - thank you. I am an ace member and I do have photoshop on my computer but apart from cropping I've never used either. I really must learn!
Picnik.com allows you to put a text box on your picture. Which can be used for just about anything. That's the most basic. It's really easy to use and has lots of fonts and colors and it's free.
With Photoshop, a very simple way to do it is to make a new layer, and add your text on that layer. Then you just reduce the opacity of that layer until your signature is visible but not overwhelming. It's very easy to place it exactly where you want it too, and because it is on its own layer you can just select it and drag it around your image. If you're using a recent version of PS, it will likely create a new layer for you as soon as you try to use the text tool.
If you want to handwrite a signature, you can, but there are a few more steps involved. If you're not yet used to Photoshop, I'd start with the plain text method (on either PS or Picnik).
Picassa also lets you TAG each and every photo, kathy... you can actually set it automatically so photos are always signed, when you EXPORT them - even when you forget to do so....
@rudit - thank you Rudi. I had a look at Photoshop but couldn't work it out but have just managed to do it on Picnik. I will take a look at Picassa as automatic tagging would be so much easier.
I use picnik text on most of my shots. That or picasas text option should do you just fine until you figure out photoshop. The nice thing in picnik is that you can make the color of the text similar to the backgroud and change how dark or faded it is so it doesn't overwhelm your picture. Welcome to 365 :)
@Dorrena I am an ace member and have free picnic. just tried it .found the box to type in but when it comes up the caption is underneath my picture and when I upload the picture the caption disappears. what am I doing wrong????
@rebcastillo77 - thank you . I still can't work out Photoshop, I downloaded Picasa so I could use the automatic tagging but am now using picnik for the same reasons you mentioned although I think I've left some of my signatures a bit big/dark. Every day is a learning day and I'm really enjoying this project.
